Industry: Real Estate Development and Commercial Construction
The Senior Cost Estimator is a key contributor responsible for the comprehensive preparation and coordination of detailed estimates for various projects. This role involves close collaboration with Project Management and Business Development teams to effectively secure bids and proposals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed estimates across all design phases, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- Conduct quantity take-offs and assess costs for materials, labor, and equipment necessary to meet contract obligations.
- Monitor and evaluate labor pricing and productivity for specific projects or locations, maintaining an up-to-date estimating cost database.
- Lead project-specific estimating teams in the preparation and submission of competitive bids.
- Establish timelines for task completion to align with project requirements.
- While project management experience is beneficial, it is not mandatory; a combination of education, training, and experience is acceptable.
- Experience with hard bids is considered an advantage.
- Demonstrate cost estimating expertise, including the ability to break down assemblies for developing Rough Order Magnitudes (ROMs), budgets, and actual work.
- Develop bid packages for vendors and subcontractors, ensuring thorough qualification and scoping of proposals.
- Possess a strong understanding of residential single-family and multi-family wood frame construction, as well as light commercial projects.
- Exhibit proficiency in the MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Project or similar digital tools.
Note: Only candidates with the legal right to work in Canada will be considered for this position.
