Job Summary:

In the role of Intermediate Group Underwriter, you will work with the Group Underwriting team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross achieves its financial targets on the group health, life and disability income lines of business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishment of Renewal Pricing: Analyze experience and trend to justify renewal pricing and recommend pricing alternatives. Respond to client inquiries relating to pricing and experience.
  • Establishment of Rates: Set rates for new group business and respond to financial questions within specifications.
  • Financial Statement Preparation: Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in accordance with financial agreements.
  • Financial Agreement Drafting: Draft and update financial agreements.
  • Underwriting Targets: Ensure underwriting targets are met for growth and profitability.
  • Client Relationships: Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers.
  • Internal and External Communication: Continuously communicate with internal sales staff, case management, group admin, agent/broker/consultant network, and policyholders.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Post-secondary education
  • Work Experience: Minimum of four years in Group Underwriting experience.
  • Computer Skills: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel and Word.
  • Language Skills: Bilingualism (French and English) is considered an asset.
