Position: Intermediate Group Underwriter Department: Group Underwriting Employment Type: Full Time Permanent Location: Remote across Canada Compensation: Competitive Salary Reports To: Manager

As an Intermediate Group Underwriter, you will collaborate with the Group Underwriting team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross meets its financial objectives in the group health, life, and disability income sectors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Determine renewal pricing through analysis of experience and trends to justify renewal decisions and recommend pricing alternatives. This includes addressing client inquiries related to pricing and experience;

• Set rates for new group business and respond to financial inquiries as per specifications;

• Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in line with financial agreements;

• Draft and revise financial agreements;

• Ensure underwriting targets are achieved for growth and profitability;

• Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers;

• Engage continuously with internal sales staff and other internal stakeholders (e.g., Case Management, Group Admin), as well as the agent/broker/consultant network and policyholders.

Qualifications:

• Education: Post-secondary education required;

• Experience: A minimum of four years in Group Underwriting is essential;

• Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word;

• Language Proficiency: Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.

Additional Qualifications:

• Enjoyment of working in a collaborative environment;

• Strong written and verbal communication skills;

• Self-motivated with a high degree of personal accountability and responsibility;

• Excellent reasoning, judgment, and decision-making capabilities;

• Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail;

• Exceptional time-management skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment;

• Strong negotiation abilities.
