Position: Intermediate Group Underwriter Department: Group Underwriting Employment Type: Full Time Permanent Location: Remote anywhere in Canada Salary: Competitive Compensation Reports To: Manager

As an Intermediate Group Underwriter, you will collaborate with the Group Underwriting team to ensure Medavie Blue Cross meets its financial objectives in the group health, life, and disability income sectors.

Key Responsibilities

• Determine renewal pricing by analyzing experience and trends to substantiate the renewal rationale and suggest pricing alternatives. This includes addressing client inquiries regarding pricing and experience;

• Set rates for new group business and respond to financial inquiries within the specified parameters;

• Prepare financial statements for ASO and Retention groups in line with financial agreements;

• Draft and revise financial agreements;

• Ensure underwriting targets are achieved for growth and profitability;

• Develop and maintain direct relationships with clients and producers;

• Engage continuously with internal sales staff and other internal stakeholders (e.g., Case Management, Group Admin), the agent/broker/consultant network, and policyholders.

Qualifications

• Education: Post-secondary education

• Work Experience: A minimum of four years in Group Underwriting experience.

• Computer Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Word.

• Language Skills: Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.

• Self-motivated with high levels of personal accountability and responsibility;

• Excellent reasoning, judgment, and decision-making abilities;

• Strong analytical skills with meticulous attention to detail;
