We are currently seeking a talented professional to fill the position of:

Health, Safety and Environment Manager

This role is based in Oakville, Ontario, and is a key position within our organization.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace according to legal guidelines, reporting to the Director of HSE & Quality.
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety, ensuring compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to the law, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Conduct training and presentations for health and safety matters and accident prevention, promoting a culture of safety within the organization.
  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations, ensuring a safe working environment.
  • Set up and audit inspection programs to observe possible unsafe conditions, taking corrective action as necessary.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to discover causes and handle worker's compensation claims, ensuring a fair and timely resolution.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures, enhancing the overall health and safety of the organization.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics, providing insights for continuous improvement.
  • Manage and coach Site Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Audit, train, and support construction project startups on site with site safety officers, ensuring a safe and successful project delivery.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety, and Environment or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to communicate in French, with fluency in English mandatory.
  • Excellent problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to meet and interface with customers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products, with the ability to work with various software applications.
  • Availability to travel 50% of the time, with occasional extended periods of travel.
