About the Role

As a Health, Safety and Environment Manager, you will play a critical role in ensuring the well-being of our employees and the sustainability of our operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute health and safety plans in the workplace, ensuring compliance with legal guidelines and industry standards.
  • Prepare and enforce policies to establish a culture of health and safety, promoting a proactive approach to risk management.
  • Evaluate practices, procedures, and facilities to assess risk and adherence to laws and regulations.
  • Conduct training and presentations on health and safety matters and accident prevention, ensuring employees are equipped to work safely.
  • Monitor compliance to policies and laws by inspecting employees and operations, identifying areas for improvement.
  • Set up and audit inspection programs to identify potential hazards and ensure a safe working environment.
  • Investigate accidents or incidents to determine causes and implement corrective actions, ensuring worker's compensation claims are handled efficiently.
  • Recommend solutions to issues, improvement opportunities, or new prevention measures, promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Report on health and safety awareness, issues, and statistics, providing insights to inform business decisions.
  • Manage and coach Site Safety Officers and Safety Supervisors, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their roles effectively.
  • Audit and train construction project startups on site with site safety officers, ensuring a safe and compliant working environment.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Health, Safety and Environment or equivalent work experience.
  • Ability to communicate in French.
  • Fluent in English mandatory.
  • Excellent problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet and interface with customers, resolving issues and accomplishing tasks between internal and external customers.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Availability to travel 50% of the time, sometimes for a week at a time.
