About the Role

PCL Construction is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Occupational Health and Safety Student to join our team in the Toronto District. As a key member of our Canadian Buildings Division, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by assisting with inspections, managing documents, and developing training materials.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations
  • Manage documents, including data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, and filing
  • Assist with the orientation of new employees
  • Develop training materials to promote a safe working environment
  • Review paperwork, including PSI, tailgate meetings, and safety procedures
  • Monitor and maintain the environmental program
  • Recognize and follow PCL and local legislative requirements
  • Analyze site-specific trends and incidents and report findings to the district
  • Gather, review, and distribute safety-related statistical information
  • Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to the workforce
Qualifications
  • Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems that meet compliance
  • Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risk of exposure to hazards
  • The ability to determine the cause of an incident and initiate and implement corrective action to prevent reoccurrence
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Strong willingness to learn and grow with the company
