As a Occupational Health and Safety Student, you will have the opportunity to contribute to our team by:

Key Responsibilities

· Assisting the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations to ensure a safe working environment.

· Managing documents, including data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, and filing, to maintain accurate records.

· Assisting with the orientation of new employees to ensure a smooth onboarding process.

· Developing training materials to educate employees on safety protocols and procedures.

· Reviewing paperwork, including PSI, tailgate meetings, safe work procedures, and trend analysis, to identify areas for improvement.

· Monitoring and maintaining the environmental program to ensure compliance with regulations.

· Recognizing and following PCL and local legislative requirements to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.

· Analyzing site-specific trends and incidents and reporting findings to the district to inform decision-making.

· Gathering, reviewing, and distributing safety-related statistical information to inform safety initiatives.

· Interpreting, communicating, and reinforcing project safety standards to the workforce to ensure a culture of safety.

Requirements

· Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures to ensure a safe working environment.

· Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems that meet compliance.

· Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.

· The ability to determine the cause of an incident and to initiate and implement corrective action to prevent the likelihood of reoccurrence.

· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with employees and stakeholders.

· Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new situations and challenges.
