About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Health, Safety and Environmental Specialist to join our team at PCL Construction. As a key member of our Canadian Buildings Division, you will play a critical role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental well-being of our employees, clients, and the communities we serve.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the HSE Professional with inspections and incidental investigations to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Manage documents, including data entry, SMC entries, taking minutes, and filing, to maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Assist with the orientation of new employees to ensure they understand our health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures.
  • Develop training materials to educate employees on health, safety, and environmental best practices.
  • Review paperwork, including PSI, tailgate meetings, safe work procedures, and trend analysis, to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and maintain the environmental program to minimize our impact on the environment.
  • Recognize and follow PCL and local legislative requirements to ensure we are in compliance.
  • Analyze site-specific trends and incidents and report findings to the district to inform decision-making.
  • Gather, review, and distribute safety-related statistical information to inform our health, safety, and environmental strategies.
  • Interpret, communicate, and reinforce project safety standards to the workforce to ensure a safe working environment.
Qualifications
  • Ability to implement HSE program elements and safe operating procedures to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Knowledge of environmental requirements and the ability to implement systems that meet compliance.
  • Ability to plan and employ preventative measures to reduce the risks of exposure to hazards.
  • The ability to determine the cause of an incident and initiate and implement corrective action to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate with employees, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Strong willingness to learn and adapt to new situations and challenges.
