Position Details

This role is part-time, requiring 24 hours of commitment per week, with shifts from 7 am to 7:30 pm.

About the Role

Emory University Hospital is in search of a skilled ICU Resource Nurse. The Resource Utilization Nurse (RUN) plays a crucial role in supporting the critical care units by ensuring a consistent standard of care. Responsibilities include:

  • Assisting patients transitioning from the ICU for diagnostic evaluations or procedures.
  • Taking on direct patient care assignments when the primary nurse is unavailable.
  • Providing support during emergency situations, including Code Mets and Code Blue responses.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
  • A valid, active, and unencumbered nursing license or a temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • A minimum of three years of critical care experience with the ability to manage patients across all specialties within Emory Critical Care.
  • CCRN certification is preferred.
  • Current BLS, ACLS, and Healthcare Provider certifications are required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support critical care units by ensuring a consistent level of care.
  • Assist in managing critical care patients in the emergency department awaiting inpatient bed admission.
  • Conduct monitoring of patients transferred from the ICU to general units.
  • Act as a proficient clinician with in-depth knowledge of ICU patient care.
  • Respond to emergency situations, providing support during stabilization and transfer to an ICU.
  • Engage in rounding on ICU patients who have been transferred out, ensuring continuity of care.
  • Collaborate with management to develop a professional growth plan and attend relevant educational in-services.
  • Participate in professional organizations to stay updated on current trends and practices.
  • Track and monitor metrics related to productivity and quality of care.
  • Support the backfill process in the ICU when primary RNs are occupied with diagnostic procedures.
  • Assist in full capacity protocols and support the emergency department with ICU patients awaiting admission.
