Position: Clinical Charge Nurse

Schedule: 7pm - 7:30am / Full Time / 36 Hours

Unit: 4B Moderate Care Unit

The 4B Moderate Care Unit is a dynamic environment characterized by a high patient turnover and diverse diagnoses. This unit serves as an exceptional platform for gaining extensive knowledge in cardiovascular procedures and conditions, fostering the development of organizational and critical thinking skills. It also provides a unique opportunity to enhance critical care competencies and refine assessment abilities.

This unit comprises 12 beds and operates 24 hours, catering to the entire heart and vascular service line. Patients may include those in critical condition awaiting transfer to specialized units or those requiring observation after same-day procedures.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing.
  • At least two years of experience as a Registered Nurse, with a minimum of two years in the relevant specialty.
  • Possession of a valid, active, unencumbered Nursing license or a temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
  • Preferred certification.
  • BLS certification required.
  • Internal promotions or external hires must fulfill UCN/SNM criteria within nine months, including completion of specific training courses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and coordinate daily operations during assigned shifts on the clinical unit.
  • Supervise staff and facilitate effective communication with physicians and administrative personnel to ensure optimal patient and family-centered care.
  • Act as a change agent, leading initiatives to enhance organizational systems that align with departmental mission and values.
  • Employ creative problem-solving and conflict resolution skills while collaborating with team members.
  • Exhibit sound judgment and clinically informed risk-taking, serving as a role model for communication skills.
  • Demonstrate foresight regarding the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes, recognized as an expert clinician and leader in the specialty area.
  • Complete necessary reports and evaluations within designated timeframes, assessing the effectiveness of operational processes.
  • Model effective time management and ensure compliance with unit policies and procedures.
  • Mentor and guide other Registered Nurses in the Charge Nurse role.
  • Evaluate resource utilization and lead cost containment efforts.
  • Foster a collaborative environment that encourages open communication and the development of leadership skills among staff.
