Mental Health Liaison Nurse

Job Summary:
Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a skilled Mental Health Liaison Nurse to join our team. As a Mental Health Liaison Nurse, you will play a critical role in providing mental health support and services to patients in the Emergency Department.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and consult with patients presenting to the Emergency Department with mental health concerns and/or substance abuse.
- Collaborate with the Emergency Department healthcare team to develop treatment plans and implement interventions.
- Provide mental health consultation and support to patients, families, and healthcare staff.
- Liaise with community resources and services to access support for patients.
- Document and report findings to the Emergency Department team.
Requirements:
- Baccalaureate degree in Psychiatric Nursing or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with related experience.
- Active practicing licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurse of Manitoba.
- Minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience in mental health.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training.
- Current certification in ASIST, NVCI, and Co-Occurring Disorder training.
- Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's License and access to a personal vehicle.
- Proficiency in Microsoft programs and Internet applications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of adult learning and ability to teach individuals and groups effectively.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed care and recovery-oriented philosophy of mental health.
- Excellent counseling and conflict resolution skills.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team.
Working Conditions:
The Mental Health Liaison Nurse will work in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment, providing mental health support and services to patients and families. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a team environment and provide excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
