Job Title: Mental Health Liaison Nurse

Job Summary:

Prairie Mountain Health is seeking a highly skilled Mental Health Liaison Nurse to join our team. As a key member of our Emergency Department, you will play a critical role in providing mental health consultation and support to patients, families, and healthcare teams.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess and consult with patients presenting to the Emergency Department with mental health concerns and/or substance abuse.
  • Collaborate with the Emergency Department healthcare team to develop treatment plans and implement interventions.
  • Provide mental health consultation and support to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
  • Conduct follow-up calls to patients to assess the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Process and implement referrals to community resources.
  • Obtain collateral information from community service providers, family, and other healthcare institutions.
  • Function as a visible resource within the Emergency Department to provide general support to patients and families.

Requirements:

  • Baccalaureate degree in Psychiatric Nursing or Registered Psychiatric Nurse with related experience.
  • Active practicing licensure with the College of Registered Psychiatric Nurse of Manitoba.
  • Minimum of three years of relevant clinical experience in mental health.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) Training.
  • Current certification in ASIST, NVCI, and Co-Occurring Disorder training.
  • Province of Manitoba Class 5 Driver's Licence and access to a personal vehicle.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft programs and Internet applications.
  • Evidence of professional development and activity in professional associations.

Working Conditions:

This is a full-time position working in a fast-paced Emergency Department environment. The successful candidate will be required to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team and provide mental health consultation and support to patients, families, and healthcare teams.
