Position Overview:

The Intermodal Business Development Executive is essential in driving our organization’s growth within the intermodal transport sector. This role focuses on identifying and securing new business prospects, nurturing existing relationships, and meeting sales objectives through innovative approaches and extensive industry expertise.

This position requires a proactive mindset towards client engagement, emphasizing the establishment of sustainable partnerships and the delivery of tailored, effective intermodal solutions. It is primarily a role aimed at business acquisition.

Core Responsibilities:

BUSINESS EXPANSION

  • Evaluate market dynamics to shape sales tactics.
  • Maintain a strong sales funnel through strategic lead generation, networking, and participation in industry events.
  • Create customized proposals and negotiate agreements to acquire new clients in intermodal transport, thereby broadening our customer base and enhancing market presence.
  • Work alongside the marketing department to develop focused campaigns and promotional content that showcase our intermodal services and achievements.

CLIENT RETENTION

  • Formulate and execute detailed account strategies that align with client goals, providing value-added intermodal services.
  • Conduct regular assessments of account performance, pinpointing areas for enhancement and implementing strategies to improve service delivery and client satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to fulfill client requirements and operational needs.
  • Serve as the main contact for key clients, promptly addressing any issues or concerns to ensure a smooth and positive experience.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics, or a related discipline.
  • 4-5 years of sales experience managing significant National Accounts is essential.
  • Experience in intermodal and railway sectors is preferred.
  • Background in the transportation industry is necessary.
  • Experience in customer service and account management is advantageous.

  • Strong sales and presentation capabilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of North American transportation modes, competition, and clientele.
  • Detail-oriented with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment to meet strict deadlines.
  • Exceptional verbal communication, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong customer service orientation.
  • Well-organized, enthusiastic, creative, professional, and a positive team player.
  • Ability to handle rejection effectively.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain robust business relationships.

Supervision:

This role reports to the Director of Intermodal. The supervisor and/or department leader will periodically review progress on assignments. This position does not have authority over other team members and does not include direct reports.

Decision-Making and Judgment:

Tasks are assigned with considerable latitude to determine priorities and methodologies. Work is generally evaluated based on the accomplishment of assignments or project objectives.
