In the role of a Lead Underground Construction Supervisor, you will play a crucial part in overseeing Mainline Construction Operations. Your primary responsibility will be to manage the crew and equipment involved in the installation of deep utilities and services for various underground projects, including residential and capital initiatives. It is essential to maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions with clients, the public, and colleagues while ensuring that all tasks are executed safely and responsibly.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations at the designated job site, conducting necessary field safety and environmental inspections, and maintaining accurate records and reports.
  • Verify the accuracy of material deliveries by checking bills of lading and promptly notifying supervisors of any discrepancies.
  • Ensure that all required materials are available in advance to support a continuous workflow on-site.
  • Foster positive employee relations and ensure that all training requirements are met, optimizing resources through effective planning and coordination.
  • Ensure that all employees, particularly new hires, receive proper orientation training for their assigned tasks and equipment.
  • Maintain compliance with contract specifications and manage all necessary documentation, including Daily Timesheets, tailgate meetings, and incident reports.
  • Conduct operations in alignment with safety regulations, collaborating with the Safety/Project Supervisor, and respond appropriately to emergency situations.
  • Maintain personal readiness for work and monitor one’s own fitness for duty.
  • Inspect and uphold the condition of assigned vehicles to company standards, reporting any issues or defects immediately.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

  • Project Management: Monitor weather conditions to adjust schedules accordingly, oversee crew mobilization and demobilization, and ensure compliance with 'work alone' protocols.
  • Preparation: Maintain comprehensive project records, including material quantities, personnel hours, and equipment usage, ensuring compliance with contract requirements.
Qualifications & Experience:
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in underground utility construction.
  • High School diploma or equivalent extensive experience.
  • Valid Class 5 AB driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Thorough understanding of Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Ability to read and interpret drafts, drawings, and blueprints.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is mandatory.

Note: This position requires relocation for the duration of the season and is not a fly-in/fly-out role. This is a full-time seasonal position, not a contract role. We are committed to promoting a safe work environment with a substance testing program.
