About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Pipelayer to join our team at Wapiti Gravel Suppliers, a leading paving contractor in Western Canada. As a Pipelayer, you will play a critical role in the installation of sanitary and storm water sewer structures and pipe systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and lay out pipe routes, following specifications and blueprints, and coordinating layouts with supervisors.
  • Cut pipes to required lengths and assist in aligning pipes during pipeline construction.
  • Align and position pipes to prepare them for welding or sealing.
  • Check slopes for conformance to requirements, using levels or lasers.
  • Connect pipe pieces and seal joints, using welding equipment, cement, or glue.
  • Tap and drill holes into pipes to introduce auxiliary lines or devices.
  • Cover pipes with earth, aggregates, or other materials.
  • Grade and level trench bases, using tamping machines and hand tools.
  • Train others and mentor workers in pipe-laying techniques.
  • Ensure a solid understanding of and comply with the company's Code of Ethics.
  • Examine situations in light of the principles of the Code of Ethics.
  • Perform other operation-related duties as required.
Requirements
  • High School diploma or G.E.D.
  • Class 5 driver's license.
  • Minimum 3-5 years of experience in underground pipelaying.
  • 2-4 years of experience in the road construction industry preferred.
  • Knowledge of Ground Disturbance guidelines.
  • Basic math skills.
Working Conditions
  • Monday to Saturday schedule, up to 12 hours per day (weather dependent).
  • Work performed in an outdoor setting, which may include inclement weather, heat, and humidity, and exposure to dust and asphalt.
  • Must be physically able to repetitively lift and carry at least 50 LBS on a regular basis.
  • Use of Personal Protection Equipment is required.
  • Use of sunscreen, long sleeves, and appropriate headgear is recommended.
  • Must comply with the company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
