Job Summary:

Mainline Construction is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Underground Foreman to join our team. As a key member of our construction operations team, you will be responsible for supervising crews and equipment to install deep utilities and services for residential and capital underground projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise work at assigned jobsites, including conducting daily field safety and environmental inspections, maintaining records, and reporting.
  • Verify the accuracy of bills of lading and notify the supervisor of material delivery discrepancies.
  • Ensure materials are available before they are needed to maintain a steady workflow on the jobsite.
  • Optimize resources through proper planning and coordination of work, ensuring good employee relations and achieving training requirements.
  • Ensure all employees have had orientation training for tasks they are required to perform and/or equipment they are expected to operate.
  • Review, complete, and make corrections to all required documentation, including Daily Timesheets, tailgate meetings, and incident reporting.
  • Conduct operations in a safe and responsible manner, in conjunction with the Safety/Project Supervisor, and adhere to OH&S regulations.
  • Be aware of one's own condition and relative fitness for duty, and ensure total readiness for work.
  • Inspect and maintain assigned vehicles to company standards, and promptly report any problems or defects.

Job Management & Preparedness:

  • Hazard Assessment:
  • Ensure hazard assessments are completed as required pre-job, ongoing, when moving location, and as hazards change. Coach others in the identification of hazards and their control measures.
  • Job Management:
  • Check weather information to monitor potential adverse weather conditions. Adjust schedule to accommodate adverse conditions to avoid delays.
  • Preparation:
  • Maintain project records, including measured material quantities, personnel hours, and equipment use. Ensure material meets contract requirements.

Requirements:

  • High School education or extensive experience.
  • Valid Class 5 AB driver's license with a clean abstract.
  • Thorough knowledge of the Workers Compensation Board (WCB) Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Proficient in reading drafts, drawings, and prints.
  • Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing required.

Notes:

  • Required to relocate to Grande Prairie for the duration of the season.
  • This is a full-time seasonal position.
