With over 1,200 employees and 23 bakeries across Quebec and one in Ottawa, many of its products are available in grocery stores throughout Quebec and Ontario. The recent acquisition by Metro allows Boulangerie Première Moisson to enhance its distribution capabilities, leveraging the extensive network of this leading entity in the food and drugstore sectors in the region.

We are currently seeking a Logistics Technician for our operations. The ideal candidate will assist the Logistics Director and the Order Desk Manager with various tasks related to deli subcontract orders and special requests from key clients. This role also encompasses daily and periodic accounting of transportation and warehousing expenses in line with established budgets and agreements.

Key Responsibilities:

Order Management:

  • Review and approve incoming invoices.
  • Ensure accuracy of period-end accruals for purchase orders under supervision.
  • Validate and log transport invoice entries in current tracking systems.
  • Communicate with carriers regarding any billing discrepancies, errors, or delays.
  • Maintain the integrity of rates applied in accordance with existing agreements.
  • Confirm and forward accrued freight charges for each fiscal period to Finance and the Logistics Manager.
  • Act as the primary contact for any changes, availability, shortages, or delays for warehouse customers.
  • Input CHEP pallets for various clients into the pallet supplier's system.
  • Enforce shipping deadlines for subcontractors and document any delays.
  • Propose enhancements to optimize outcomes (safety, quality, cost, waste reduction, efficiency) through continuous improvement practices.
  • Adhere to and meticulously monitor established budgets.
  • Analyze variances and provide solutions to meet corporate objectives.
  • Complete customs documentation for international sales as needed.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for specific customers and transportation divisions for regular pickups.

Deli Subcontracting:

  • Input and verify distributor customer orders for deli and tartar products in the management system, including necessary modifications.
  • Process and validate deli orders for various clients in the management system, incorporating any required changes.
  • Create purchase orders from sales orders received via the management system for various suppliers of subcontracted products.
  • Oversee administrative reception and invoice verification for all orders related to subcontracted deli products.
  • Maintain supplier information sheets for deli suppliers as needed.

Additional Duties:

  • Provide coverage for the Transport Technician during absences.
  • Address issues related to the section tactfully and inform the immediate supervisor as necessary.
  • Collaborate to foster a positive work environment with colleagues from other departments.
  • Engage actively in meetings and company activities relevant to the section and department.
  • Support planning, logistics, and production while adhering to food safety protocols and various certifications.
  • Work closely with sales, retail, production, shipping, and transportation teams.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards for subcontractors.

Qualifications:

  • DEC in logistics (Experience may substitute for formal education).
  • At least 2 years of experience in a similar role within the food industry.
  • Familiarity with local and international transport regulations.
  • Understanding of HACCP, GFSI, or SQF standards.
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written French and English.
  • Computer skills: SAP, ERP, MS Office, and messaging software.
