Join our dedicated 8TN/8TS Hematology-Oncology units, where your passion for nursing can make a significant impact in the battle against cancer. Our team employs evidence-based treatment protocols for chemotherapy and immunotherapy, ensuring the highest standards of care for our oncology patients. Additionally, we engage in clinical research to enhance treatment methodologies and patient care.

Unit Overview:

  • Approximately 18-bed unit focused on Medical Oncology patients, addressing solid tumors through surgery, radiation, chemotherapy, and end-of-life care.
  • Active participation in clinical trials and research initiatives.
  • Recognized with the 2023 Silver Beacon Award for Critical & Acute Care Excellence.

We are currently seeking a Unit Charge Nurse for Medical Oncology. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and directing the daily operations of a designated shift within the clinical unit.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise nursing staff and facilitate effective communication with physicians and administrative personnel to ensure optimal patient and family-centered care.
  • Utilize clinical intuition and experience to anticipate the impact of nursing care on patient outcomes.
  • Complete necessary reports related to employee performance, risk management, and unit operations within established timelines.
  • Ensure compliance with policies and procedures relevant to the unit.
  • Model effective delegation skills and assist colleagues in utilizing the Synergy model for care.
  • Act as a mediator in resolving conflicts among nursing staff.
  • Address performance issues through appropriate counseling and guidance.
  • Participate actively in regulatory agency reviews and preparations.
  • Provide mentorship and direction to less experienced staff regarding policies, scheduling, and daily operations.
  • Support the needs of the unit and colleagues through positive and constructive behaviors.
  • Address customer concerns and complaints with appropriate actions.
  • Conduct performance evaluations with input from the Unit Director as necessary.

Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required. Candidates must possess a valid, active, and unencumbered Nursing license or a temporary permit approved by the Georgia Licensing Board.
