Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Part Time Thrift Store Sales Associate to provide exceptional customer service, maintain a clean and organized store environment, and assist with daily operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Customer Service
    • Provide a positive and friendly shopping experience for customers.
    • Respond to customer inquiries and resolve any issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Store Maintenance
    • Maintain a clean and organized store environment, including the sales floor, stockroom, and customer service area.
    • Restock shelves, hang merchandise, and maintain visual displays.
  • Operations
    • Process customer transactions, including cash, credit, and debit sales.
    • Operate a cash register, credit card machine, and other point-of-sale equipment.
    • Assist with receiving and processing donations, including sorting, pricing, and stocking merchandise.
  • Inventory Management
    • Conduct regular inventory counts and report any discrepancies to management.
    • Assist with receiving and processing shipments, including unloading, stocking, and pricing merchandise.
  • Health and Safety
    • Maintain a safe and healthy work environment, including adhering to The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
    • Report any hazards or incidents to management immediately.
Requirements
  • Education
    • Completion of secondary school.
  • Experience
    • Minimum of three months of prior retail sales experience.
    • Cash handling experience is required.
  • Skills
    • Basic math skills required.
    • Attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
    • Self-motivated and disciplined.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
Working Conditions
  • This is a temporary part-time position based on 20 hours per week.
  • Schedule may vary from week to week and include weekdays and Saturdays.
  • This job requires the ability to stand for extended periods with frequent twisting, bending, crouching, and reaching is required; the ability to lift/move 20 to 29 pounds.
