Job Summary

The Salvation Army is seeking a Part Time Thrift Store Clerk to provide exceptional customer service, sort incoming products, and assist with ongoing retail operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Protect the integrity of donated items and ensure accurate completion of customer transactions.
  • Process raw materials, interact with customers, and contribute to meeting store budgets.
  • Assist with store layout plans, replenish inventory levels, and provide customer service.
  • Unload donations, sort and price items, and maintain a safe and organized store environment.
  • Communicate effectively with customers, donors, and colleagues, and adhere to store policies and procedures.
Working Conditions
  • This is a temporary part-time position based on 20 hours per week.
  • The schedule may vary from week to week and include weekdays and Saturdays.
  • The job requires standing for extended periods, frequent twisting, bending, and reaching, and the ability to lift/move 20 to 29 pounds.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • Completion of Secondary School.
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.
Experience and Knowledge
  • A minimum of three (3) months of prior related experience.
  • Cash handling experience is required, and knowledge of using a cash register, debit machine, and/or credit card processing is an asset.
Skills and Capabilities
  • Basic math skills, attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Self-motivation, discipline, and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, integrity, and adaptability.
