Job Summary

The Inspection Services Technician I will be responsible for undertaking standard and routine technical assignments in support of activities such as design, testing, production, and operation of equipment and systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide support to cross-functional teams and project management.
  • Participate in site execution of outage and inspection projects, with roles assigned depending on CGSB qualifications.
  • Coordinate and schedule priorities with the supervisor or lead technician and follow procedures to complete an inspection.
  • Participate in NDE tasks in the field.
  • Assist with assembly, testing, and refurbishing of equipment prior to site deployment.
  • Conduct a variety of standard test/inspection and analytical procedures assigned through verbal or written instructions.
  • Set up tests using a variety of test materials and equipment, as per Level II or supervisor instructions.
  • Record test results to facilitate comparison with defined standards.
  • Prepare equipment or hardware for operation.
  • Execute parts of field tests with the guidance of ET Level II.
  • Adhere to all quality and safety standards and demonstrate a strong focus on customer satisfaction.
  • Awareness of and appreciation for the process of Continuous Improvement.
  • Under supervision, perform process controls, set up, calibration, and testing of equipment.
  • May assist with training of field staff for project execution.
  • Assist with paperwork transactions required to perform ET inspection under BWXT internal process.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Will perform acquisition (ACQ) Operator or ACQ Assistant duties (if CGSB ET Level I has been obtained).
  • Commensurate with experience and knowledge, may be asked to backfill Outage Lead responsibilities during required days off (RDOs) or upon request.
  • Assist with inventory control.
  • Assist with equipment inventory (Rubber Area/Clean equipment).
  • Assist during the equipment shipment stages by packing, segregating, or receiving.

Requirements

  • Technician/Technologist diploma: college graduate in an electrical, mechanical, or NDE discipline or equivalent related experience (2 to 3 years).
  • Level I NDT Technician with ECT certificate.
  • Should be thoroughly familiar with the scope and limitations of the NDT method(s) for which qualified, and shall exercise assigned responsibility for on-the-job training and guidance as a trainee from NDT Level II personnel.
  • Some mechanical experience with NDT industrial equipment (i.e. ZETEC equipment and probes) would be ideal.
  • Up to 70% to 80% site work/travel expected.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to recognize and resolve conflict.
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct testing to ensure quality or detect discontinuities (defects) using NDT method(s).
  • Capable of inspecting Heat Exchangers with ET method.

Benefits

The base salary range for this position in Ontario at start of employment is expected to be between $58,000 and $74,000 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits.
