Position: Cement Engineering Technician

Reports to: Reliability Manager

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts

Role Overview:

The Cement Engineering Technician plays a vital role in supporting various operational functions at the Ash Grove Mississauga Cement Plant. This position requires on-site presence, with assignments to departments based on individual skills and organizational needs. Departments may include Production, Process, Maintenance, Environment, and Quality. Exceptional Cement Technicians may be considered for permanent roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and promote all safety protocols within the plant.
  • Assist with maintenance shutdowns by serving as a confined space entry monitor.
  • Perform administrative tasks as needed, including purchase orders and SAP requests.
  • Conduct field inspections to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Support projects aimed at enhancing environmental compliance and operational standards.
  • Contribute to sustainable practices and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives.
  • Test and audit various plant systems.
  • Analyze data and compile reports for management review.
  • Help develop operational and maintenance procedures, ensuring effective communication across shifts.
  • Evaluate production data for efficiency improvements.
  • Prepare cost-benefit analyses for proposed projects.
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • No prior experience required; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Post-secondary education is necessary.
  • Preferred fields of study include Engineering Technology, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.

Skills and Competencies:

  • Proficient in computer applications, with experience in MS Excel and/or SAP being advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

This role involves a variety of tasks and is not routine. Cement Technicians will work outdoors, at heights, in warm conditions, and occasionally in dusty environments and confined spaces. While primarily a day shift position, flexibility for shifts or weekend work may be required.

Work Environment:

This position operates across the plant.
