Position: Cement Engineering Technician

Reports to: Reliability Manager

Shift: Monday-Friday, 8-hour shifts

Role Overview:

The Cement Engineering Technician plays a crucial role in supporting various operational functions at the Ash Grove Mississauga Cement Plant. This position requires on-site presence, with assignments to departments based on individual skills and business requirements. Potential departments include Production, Process, Maintenance, Environment, and Quality. Exceptional Cement Technicians may be considered for permanent roles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adhere to and promote all safety protocols within the plant.
  • Assist with maintenance activities by serving as a confined space entry monitor on designated days.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required, including purchase orders, SAP requests, and other departmental needs.
  • Conduct field inspections and support environmental compliance projects.
  • Contribute to sustainable practices and greenhouse gas reduction initiatives.
  • Test and audit plant systems, conducting data analysis and preparing reports.
  • Help develop operational and maintenance procedures, ensuring effective communication across shifts.
  • Analyze production data for efficiency improvements and prepare cost-benefit analyses.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • No prior experience required; recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Post-secondary education is essential.
  • Preferred fields of study include Engineering Technology, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical Engineering.

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in computer applications, with experience in MS Excel and/or SAP being advantageous.

Physical Requirements:

This role offers a dynamic work environment, requiring outdoor work, and exposure to varying temperatures, heights, and potentially dusty or confined spaces. While primarily a day shift position, flexibility for shifts or weekend work may be necessary.

This position operates throughout the plant.
