Complex Financial Lines Claims Director

We are seeking a highly experienced Complex Claims Director to manage significant commercial disputes within our Financial Lines division. This role offers the opportunity to be involved in some of the most impactful cases in the country while maintaining a healthy work-life balance.
About the Role- Oversee and manage complex commercial claims, including securities class actions, professional liability disputes, and privacy breach class actions.
- Conduct thorough analysis of insurance coverage and issue comprehensive coverage letters under various policies.
- Establish accurate reserves and keep senior management informed about major cases and their progress.
- Provide strategic guidance and supervision to external legal counsel, ensuring compliance with litigation guidelines and best practices.
- Communicate risk assessment information to the underwriting department to support informed decision-making.
- Deliver exceptional claims service to clients and partners, fostering strong relationships built on trust and transparency.
- Actively participate in mediations and settlement conferences, working towards mutually beneficial resolutions.
- Negotiate and settle claims within prescribed limits, demonstrating sound judgment and risk management skills.
- Adhere to company procedures and quality standards, ensuring consistent and efficient claim handling processes.
- Fluency in both English and French (oral and written communication).
- Possession of an AMF License or a commitment to obtaining it.
- A legal degree is strongly recommended.
- Proven experience in civil or commercial litigation, insurance coverage analysis, or claims handling within the financial services industry.
- Ability to work independently with exceptional communication and analytical skills.
- Proficiency in utilizing technology within a paperless environment.
