Financial Lines Claims Director

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Claims Director to join our Financial Lines team at AIG. As a Claims Director, you will be responsible for managing complex commercial claims, including securities class actions, professional liability litigations, and wrongful termination disputes. You will also be responsible for preparing timely coverage assessments and issuing coverage letters under various types of commercial insurance policies.
Key Responsibilities- Manage complex commercial claims, including:
- Securities class actions
- Professional liability litigations
- Wrongful termination disputes
- Fraud
- Kidnapping
- Breach of representations and warranties
- Privacy breach class actions
You will also be responsible for:
- Preparing timely coverage assessments
- Issuing coverage letters under various types of commercial insurance policies
- Assessing exposure on all claims and setting reserves
- Presenting to management on high exposure losses
- Monitoring external counsel and ensuring compliance to the litigation guidelines
- Communicating with our underwriting partners any information that may impact risk assessment and ensuring alignment
- Providing optimal claims service to clients and broker partners
- Attending mediations and settlement conferences
- Negotiating and settling claims within the prescribed authority
- Conforming to company procedures and best practices
- Fluency in both English and French (verbal and written) is essential
- AMF License or commitment to obtain licensing within a reasonable timeframe after being hired
- Legal degree, strongly recommended
- Experience in civil and commercial litigation or in insurance coverage litigation or substantive experience in insurance claims handling
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Superior analytical skills
- Ability to multi-task and work effectively and cooperatively in a fast-paced busy team environment
- Ability to manage workload effectively and efficiently/ability to prioritize is essential
- Proficient computer skills in a paperless environment
