Senior Claims Manager

AIG Canada is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Claims Manager to join our growing team in the Financial Lines division.
As a leading provider of insurance products and services, AIG offers a comprehensive range of coverage options for businesses across various industries.
In this role, you will play a pivotal part in managing complex commercial claims, ensuring timely and effective resolution while upholding the highest standards of professionalism and client service.
- Responsibilities:
- Oversee and manage a portfolio of complex financial lines claims, including securities class actions, professional liability disputes, wrongful termination litigation, fraud investigations, and more.
- Conduct thorough analysis of insurance policies to determine coverage applicability and issue comprehensive coverage letters for various types of insurance, such as directors and officers liability, professional liability, employment practices liability, and others.
- Establish and maintain accurate claim reserves in accordance with established procedures, providing regular updates and reports to senior management on significant cases.
- Provide strategic guidance and oversight to external legal counsel, ensuring compliance with litigation management guidelines and best practices.
- Cultivate strong relationships with clients and broker partners, delivering exceptional claims service and communication throughout the claims process.
- Actively participate in mediations and settlement conferences, working collaboratively to achieve favorable outcomes for all parties involved.
- Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits, demonstrating sound judgment and risk management principles.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures, maintaining a high level of ethical conduct and professionalism.
Qualifications:
- Fluency in both French and English is essential.
- AMF Certification in Business Claims or a commitment to obtaining it within a reasonable timeframe after hiring.
- A degree in Law is highly preferred.
- Proven experience in civil and commercial litigation, insurance coverage litigation, or extensive handling of complex insurance claims.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, demonstrating strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, coupled with a keen attention to detail.
- Proficiency in computer skills within a paperless environment.
