Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Art Director to join our team at Hasbro, working on a new AAA multiplayer game in the universe of D&D using the Unreal Engine. As a Technical Art Director, you will be responsible for leading the art team and collaborating with designers, artists, and engineers to bring the game's vision to life.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Leadership: Collaborate with game leadership to develop the overall vision and determine technical feasibility.
  • Documentation and Planning: Build up and maintain detailed documentation for all owned features, ensuring no pathways are unexplored.
  • Risk Management: Evaluate the game's vision, design, and technical needs, identifying risks and mitigation plans.
  • Tool Development: Work closely with programmers to assess existing art tools and occasionally design custom ones to improve pipelines.
  • Artist Support: Support artists with their technical needs, informatively and constructively explaining the root causes of risks, blockers, etc.
  • Training and Awareness: Train team members on tools and techniques, raising awareness of new processes.
  • Issue Resolution: Resolve complex, escalated issues and make technical validations.
  • Performance Metrics: Responsible for performance metrics with regards to art.
  • Pipeline Development: Evaluate, design, and develop the pipelines within the art team and between other departments for in-game integration.
  • Gameplay Feedback: Regularly play the game, providing constructive feedback and suggestions to other members of the team.

Ideal Candidate

  • 10+ years of experience developing AAA titles.
  • 5+ years of experience as an Art Technical Director on AAA titles.
  • Proficient with Unreal Engine, Maya, Python, Substance Designer & Painter, Speedtree, and Houdini.
  • Strong analytical skills and a love for efficient problem-solving.
  • Positive, direct, collaborative communication to improve our shared vision.
  • Flexible, adaptable approach with a constant appetite for new knowledge and experiences.
  • Self-sufficient and self-motivated, able to manage a feature from start to finish but also know when to ask for mentorship or help.
  • Ability to program or edit scripts.
  • Excellent communications skills in French and English.
