Job Summary

The Program Worker supports the implementation of a women's project in CultureLink's Special Projects Department, focusing on removing systemic barriers and increasing democratic activities among immigrant women.

Key Responsibilities
  • Recruit participants from target groups and establish collaborative meetings with stakeholders and community partners.
  • Apply a Gender-Based Analysis Plus (GBA Plus) lens to identify barriers hindering immigrant mothers' participation in decision-making processes at a school board.
  • Participate in organizing actions to enhance democratic activities carried out by immigrant women.
  • Organize participatory GBA Plus and collect feedback, compiling community consensus and immigrant women/parents' priorities.
  • Engage in building a community mobilizing team, assisting with policy development and motions preparation.
  • Organize and/or facilitate skills development sessions on social media and other skills as needed.
  • Register participants, prepare promotional materials, publicize events, and summarize lessons and impacts of the project.
  • Collaborate with the project team and a 3rd-party evaluator to develop and track project result indicators.
  • Meet with clients to follow up and assess their progress, provide support, and discuss challenges.
  • Monitor digital/social media campaigns and produce periodic reports.
  • Enter data into CultureLink's database system.
Requirements
  • Postsecondary program or graduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience and education.
  • Three years of community work and outreach experience.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills in English.
  • Demonstrated skills working with multiple tasks within tight timelines.
  • Good grasp of school board voting procedures and community mobilization.
  • Campaign experience is an asset.
  • Sensitivity and understanding of diversity, inclusion, and equity practices.
  • Experience working with immigrant women.
  • Advanced skills in using social media and digital platforms.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Screening within the past six months.
  • Experience using a database system such as OCMS.
  • Fluency in one or more languages other than English is preferred.
  • Authorization to work in Canada is required.
Work Environment

The Program Worker will work out of an office space and in the community, with some evening and weekend work required. The role involves in-person and online duties, depending on public health conditions.
