Reporting jointly to the Director, RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers (CEAD) and the Manager, Operations, while working in close collaboration with partners both inside and outside of OCAD University (OCAD U), the Special Projects Coordinator develops and supports partnerships between the University and community and/or industry partners in order to provide career development and experiential learning opportunities for OCAD U students and recent graduates. Fostering positive relationships among various creative organizations, start-ups and community agency partners, faculty, and students, the Special Projects Coordinator supports the University’s strategy for Work-Integrated and Experiential Learning (WI/EL), particularly in relationship to work-integrated job placements. The Special Projects Coordinator connects curricular programs with co-curricular job opportunities in a strategic, cohesive and forward-looking fashion in support of emerging artists, designers and related professionals and works as an integrated member of the RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers team.
**Summary of Responsibilities**:
- Coordination of the CEAD’s _Career Launchers_ and _Design4_ programs, and other initiatives such as the _Coffee Chats_ series
- Develop new aspirational industry partnerships through consultation and outreach, and sustain existing relationships through stewardship as it relates to these programs
- Support promotional strategies and active recruitment to encourage fully-inclusive student and recent alumni participation
- Contribute to student and alumni success in the context of these programs, utilizing methods such as on-boarding processes for students, faculty and partners, or project oversight and consultation
- Consult widely with faculty and external mentors for the purposes of their involvement in various projects
- Support a variety of operations, including reporting, risk management, financial and evaluation processes for these programs
- Create materials, deliver presentations and distribute learning resources associated for partner organizations, faculty and students
- Conduct one-on-one and small-group advising with students and new alumni associated with early career advancement
- Communicate with employment partners, faculty, and staff to discuss issues and plan for on-going improvements
- Support programming that contributes to student and alumni community and professional connections, such as OCAD U’s hub on Ten Thousand Coffees
- Assist with the ongoing development of select Career Development resources, such as the Alumni Career Stories site
- Assist with aspects of the events and programming associated with the CEAD
- Support the Manager, Operations in other related tasks that contribute to the successful operation of the RBC Centre for Emerging Artists & Designers
**Qualifications**:
- Undergraduate degree, with a focus in art or design preferred, with a minimum of three (3) years of relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Demonstrated familiarity with experiential learning theory, practice and models of implementation in the higher education and/or community sectors
- Demonstrated experience collaborating on projects with the arts & culture sector and/or design-based enterprises
- Experience working with database and/or project management systems required
- Demonstrated strength in project management, organization, evaluation and reporting
- Knowledge of OCAD University, its administrative and academic structure, programs and requirements an asset
- Proven track record of productive relationship development resulting in quantifiable outcomes
- Ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with students, faculty and staff
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong self-management skills
- Demonstrated ability to exercise tact, good judgement, and diplomacy
- Demonstrated commitment to the principles of equity and diversity, and experience promoting a respectful work and learning environment for students, staff and faculty
- Demonstrated attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines
- Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently and participate collaboratively in a team environment
**Compensation**:OPSEU Unit I, Appendix A, Grade A4; $57,486.45 to $75,566.13 per annum
**Hours of Work**:Monday to Friday, for a total of 35 hours per week.
