About the Role

Sedgman Pty Limited is seeking an experienced Senior Structural Engineer to join our team in Vancouver. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for providing engineering services to large and small projects, including site investigations, rehabilitation designs, and development of new structural support concepts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Undertake structural analysis and design tasks for complex mineral processing or heavy industrial structures
  • Work on Canadian and international design projects
  • Produce structural design deliverables, including reports, specifications, drawings, analysis models, and calculations packages
  • Conduct field reviews of existing structures and structures under construction
  • Review and evaluate technical work prepared by junior engineers and designers
  • Collaborate with project teams and coworkers in multi-disciplinary environments
  • Provide guidance and oversight to junior staff working on their projects
  • Work with other disciplines in and across global offices
  • Assist with proposals and estimating of work-hours and fees
  • Report on design progress to Design Managers
About You

To be successful in this role, you will be self-motivated, well-organized, and able to manage multiple work fronts in a busy environment. You will have a Bachelor's degree in Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering with a Structural Focus, and over 5 years of experience in structural engineering in Mining, Mineral Processing, or Heavy Industrial. Professional Engineering licensure (P.Eng) is desirable.

You will have good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, and experience in design of concrete and steel structures, vibration analysis, and large rotating equipment. You will also have detailed knowledge and experience in the application of local and national codes and other legislative requirements, and experience and ability in seismic design of structures, ideally with experience in performance-based design and seismic retrofits.

You will be able to perform 3-D structural analysis (linear and nonlinear) and be familiar with structural and engineering software like SAP2000 and Mathcad.

The salary range for this position is $115,000-175,000, and the salary offered will consider education, experience, relevant skills, and capability, geographic location, and market conditions at the time of hire.
