Job Title: Regional Health and Safety Supervisor

Valard, a leading utility contractor and part of the Quanta Group, is seeking a highly skilled Regional Health and Safety Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) Department, you will play a critical role in maintaining a world-class safety culture across our operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and support to management teams, direct reports, and supervisors within the assigned geographical area.
  • Identify and address problematic areas of concern, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Maintain a visible presence in the field, conducting site visits, engaging in STKY conversations, and quarterly documented observations.
  • Ensure direct reports are familiar with applicable legislation and standards, promoting compliance.
  • Inform project management teams and supervision of new or conflictive legislative matters that may impact projects.
  • Develop and implement Site Safety Management Plans (SMPs) to ensure a safe work environment for all Valard employees, contractors, visitors, and community.
  • Provide direction, advice, and support to direct reports and project teams to ensure compliance with Valard's policies and procedures.
  • Administer discipline to direct reports, as defined in the HS&E policy, and notify the Corporate Safety Director/Manager.
  • Compile, analyze, and report on field findings, identifying trends and developing corrective action plans.
  • Ensure incident reporting timelines are adhered to, and proper STKY classifications are applied.
  • Investigate incidents, determining root cause and implementing corrective actions.
  • Review incident reports for accuracy, ensuring all final reports are forwarded to head office within 72 hours.
  • Develop and maintain good relations with clients and client representatives, ensuring Valard's best interests are represented.
  • Review safety obligations of clients and ensure they are carried out as per the terms of the agreement.
  • Prepare for and participate in audits, such as 45001, COR, and/or Owner audits.
  • Communicate and document significant issues or concerns to the Corporate Safety Director/Manager.
  • Implement strategies and corporate measures to improve safety performance.
  • Attend and participate in weekly safety meetings, preparing weekly/monthly/quarterly safety reports.
  • Identify areas of improvement and efficiencies that may improve profitability, consulting with the Corporate Safety Director/Manager.
  • Coordinate regular meetings with Safety Supervisors and Advisors to review issues, trends, and upcoming conditions or events.
  • Participate in and contribute to quarterly meetings with the Corporate Safety Director/Manager.
Requirements:
  • A degree, diploma, or certificate in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • A valid CRST (Canadian Registered Safety Technician) or CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation.
  • 5 to 7 years of relevant experience.
  • Experience in the construction industry is advantageous but not mandatory.
