Job Summary
We are seeking an Occupational Health and Safety Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating and administering OH&S program activities and projects to support business objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Health & Safety standards are met by coordinating, promoting, and conducting various OH&S programs and activities related to the OH&S Management System.
- Continue building a strong safety culture by promoting the philosophy that safety is a value associated with every priority, and is non-negotiable.
- Work closely with Regional HR Services to coordinate training and development programs for the business unit.
- Maintain Management Knowledge by providing advice, counsel and assistance to management in areas of OH&S.
- Comply with Federal, Provincial and Local Legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation enforcing adherence to requirements.
- Work closely with OH&S Services for supporting WSIB claim management.
Requirements
- Sound knowledge of OH&S principles, policies, procedures, and regulations.
- Sound knowledge of business operating processes and procedures.
- Sound working knowledge of provincial legislation and regulations WSIA, OHSA.
- Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Office (word, excel, project).
- 5 years of experience in Health and Safety from heavy industry environment preferred.
- Possess a Valid Driver's License (Class G or equivalent).
Education
- University degree in an appropriate discipline or an equivalent combination of post-secondary education and acquired work experience.
