About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our team at Chad Management Group. As a key member of our Leadership and Health and Safety team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the overall compliance and safety of our company.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct Regular Inspections and Audits: Ensure that regular inspections, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and audits are conducted to identify and mitigate potential safety risks.
  • Proactive Safety Issue Identification: Proactively identify safety issues and work with leadership to implement problem-solving strategies, provide findings, solutions, coaching, and communicate shared learnings.
  • Incident Analysis and Reporting: Utilize incident and root cause analysis to provide direction and recommendations on how to mitigate/control losses and foster a proactive safety culture.
  • Leadership and Mentoring: Provide leadership, mentoring, and direction to managers, supervisors, and employees in safety and incident prevention activities.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Generate and submit all internal and external reports, reviews, and other documentation as required. Administer and maintain incident reporting/recording systems to ensure compliance with company and legislative requirements.
  • External Representation: Represent the company to external auditors and enforcement authorities.
  • Training and Education: Provide and assist with the coordination of orientation, education, and training to managers, supervisors, employees, and the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, and new hires on Occupational Health and Safety practices, legislation, and industry changes.
  • WSIB Communication: Administer and maintain communications with WSIB including timely reporting of injuries, disability management support, and return-to-work placements.
  • Policies and Procedures: Ensure all H&S policies, procedures, and practices meet or exceed legal, company, and customer requirements including monitoring changes to regulation, assessing these changes for business impact, and communicating necessary procedural changes to internal stakeholders accordingly.
  • Employee Relations: Reinforce company values and maintain positive relations with employees, management, and external enforcement agencies.
  • Program Impact: Promote the impact of programs on employee health and productivity.
Requirements
  • Education: A strong background and understanding of Health and Safety management system designs and processes, such as a Degree/Diploma in H&S or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3-5 years related experience with coordinating and managing a safety program for a medium to large manufacturing employer.
  • Certifications: Familiarity with ISO 45001:2018 Occupational health and safety management systems and CSA Z Occupational health and safety management.
  • Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, organizational and interpersonal skills, ability to work in teams and to lead projects, and experience in identifying key OHS performance indicators (KPI's) and experience with facilitation of machine guarding, risk, and severity hazard assessments.
