PART-TIME ASSISTANT INSTRUCTOR - AQUATICS

Reporting to: Supervisor of Aquatics and Recreation Programs

Department: Aquatics

Classification: Part Time; Unionized

Salary Range: $17.72 as per Schedule "A"

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the instruction of Lifesaving Society Swim programs, including Preschool, Parent and Tot, Youth, and Adult classes.
  • Assist the Lead Instructor as required, performing tasks such as:
    • Facilitating the delivery of swim lessons.
    • Helping in the assessment of candidates.
    • Addressing inquiries and concerns from parents.
  • Maintain current qualifications at all times (within two years of certification).
  • Perform additional duties as assigned periodically.
  • Assist in the preparation of the pool and deck prior to instructional sessions and ensure proper cleanup afterward.

Required Qualifications

  • Lifesaving Assistant Water Safety Instructor Certificate.
  • Bronze Cross Certificate or National Lifeguard certification.
  • Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification.
  • Excellent physical fitness.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively engage with the public.

Work hours will not exceed forty-eight (48) hours within a two-week period, in accordance with the C.U.P.E., Local Inside/Part-time Unit collective agreement.
