Probationary Fire Training Officer

Job Summary:
The Corporation of the City of Woodstock is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Probationary Fire Training Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Fire Training Division, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating training programs for our firefighters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Training Program Development: Design and deliver comprehensive training programs for firefighters, including classroom instruction, hands-on training, and simulation exercises.
- Training Evaluation: Assess the effectiveness of training programs and make recommendations for improvement.
- Training Budget Management: Prepare and manage training budgets, ensuring that resources are allocated efficiently and effectively.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor junior training officers, providing guidance and support to ensure the success of our training programs.
- Incident Response: Participate in emergency response situations, providing technical expertise and support as needed.
- Professional Development: Stay up-to-date with the latest training techniques and technologies, sharing knowledge and best practices with colleagues.
Requirements:
- Education: Grade 12 education or equivalent secondary education as established by the Ontario Ministry of Education.
- Certifications: NFPA 1001 – Fire Fighter I & II Certified, NFPA 1021 – Fire Officer Level II Certified, NFPA 1041 – Fire Instructor Level II Certified.
- Experience: Proven experience in classroom instruction, training program development, and incident response.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and as part of a team, proficiency in audio-visual aids and e-learning platforms.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Blue Card Command Certified Instructor
- NFPA 1521 – Incident Safety Officer Certified
- Experience in advanced extrication, hazardous materials response, and technical rescue disciplines
- Proficiency in e-learning, virtual reality simulation, and other multi-media training platforms
