Job Title: Fire Training Officer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Fire Training Officer to join our team at the City of Woodstock. As a Fire Training Officer, you will be responsible for safely supervising high-risk emergency training evolutions, evaluating emergency operations, and critiquing to determine department training requirements.
Responsibilities:
* Safely supervise high-risk emergency training evolutions
* Evaluate emergency operations and critique to determine department training requirements
* Approve, develop, conduct, and evaluate training plans and curriculum for the Department
* Maintain accurate training records, document mandated training according to departmental and legislative standards
* Administer and monitor secondary and college level cooperative education programs and conduct performance evaluations of Coop Students
* Participate in the development and administration of departmental testing procedures
* Ensure compliance with legislative standards, departmental policies, and best practices
* Counsel employees on available training and educational opportunities
* Prepare training budget, control and monitor expenditures
* May be assigned to assist at an emergency scene as sector or safety officer
Requirements:
* NFPA 1001 – Fire Fighter I & II Certified
* NFPA 1021 – Fire Officer Level II Certified
* NFPA 1041 – Fire Instructor Level II Certified
* Ability to instruct, develop, and deliver training in all areas of Fire & Emergency Services operations
* Ability to prepare and administer training budget
* Experience in classroom instruction and in the usage of audio-visual aids
* Instructional experience in emergency medical response
* Knowledge of NFPA 1500, NFPA 1403, Occupational Health and Safety Act, and Section 21 committee guidelines
* Experience in incident safety officer roles
* Must possess and maintain a valid, Class "D" Ontario Driver's License with "Z" endorsement
* NFPA 1521 – Incident Safety Officer Certified
Preferred Qualifications:
* Instructional experience in various technical rescue disciplines, including ice/water rescue, rope rescue, trench rescue, confined space rescue and structural collapse
* Experience and proficiency in e-learning, virtual reality simulation and other multi-media training platforms
* Administrative and computer skills
