Job Summary

The Material Planning Team Leader plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Materials Team at Amico Corporation. This position requires strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and the ability to coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to meet production requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Guidance: Provide direction and guidance to the Planners, aligning their efforts with business objectives.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Liaise with various departments to achieve production goals, ensuring a seamless supply chain.
  • Supply Planning: Develop a comprehensive supply plan to meet targeted dates, taking into account materials and services within the business.
  • Project Scheduling: Support project scheduling activities to resolve any scheduling issues and ensure timely delivery.
  • Material Analysis: Review and interpret bills of material construction and analyze changing material demand patterns to inform supply chain decisions.
  • Issue Resolution: Resolve material issues and notify affected stakeholders, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
  • Database Management: Maintain an accurate and up-to-date database of materials purchased and planned, ensuring data integrity.
  • Material Master Accuracy: Ensure the material master is accurate and perform audits as necessary to maintain data quality.
  • Forecasting: Review sales forecasts with the management team on a monthly basis and suggest modifications consistent with knowledge of current or historical demand.
  • Continuous Improvement: Support continuous improvement activities and make recommendations to enhance processes and systems.
Expectations
  • Production Schedule Understanding: Understand the production schedule and coordinate with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality Teams to achieve production goals.
  • Team Supervision: Supervise and train new and current Material Planners to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Inventory Accuracy: Maintain inventory accuracy of materials in the area of responsibility, performing cycle counts as scheduled and updating the Material Master based on changing demands.
  • Field Problems: Handle field problems/after sales issues related to materials, including back orders, shipping of loose parts, and orders for raw materials.
  • Quality Issues: Address quality issues related to materials, ensuring they are resolved promptly and efficiently.
  • Process Improvement: Own sustaining and improving current processes and systems in accordance with long-term objectives.
Reporting Requirements
  • COGI Report: Maintain the COGI Report, ensuring it is submitted as scheduled.
  • BOM Variance Monitoring: Monitor BOM variance and make recommendations to improve processes.
  • Cost/Margin Monitoring: Monitor cost and margin, making recommendations to improve profitability.
  • Custom Parts Inventory Management: Manage custom parts inventory, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting.
  • Cycle Count/Inventory Adjustment Report: Maintain the cycle count/inventory adjustment report, ensuring it is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Material Planning Report: Generate the material planning report, providing insights into supply chain performance.
  • Material Status: Maintain the material status report, ensuring it is accurate and up-to-date.
  • Monthly KPI Reports: Generate monthly KPI reports, providing insights into sales, material consumption/purchases, inventory, and after sales performance.
Requirements
  • Education: A degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, production scheduling, or a related position is required.
  • Skills: Above-average ability in Excel, proficiency in Microsoft Office, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks, and exceptional attention to detail are required.
