Material Planning Team Leader - Amico Corporation

The primary function of this role is to provide strategic leadership to the Materials Team, ensuring that the team operates in accordance with defined roles and expectations. This involves coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to guarantee the timely supply and delivery of materials to meet production requirements.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide guidance and direction to Planners, aligning their efforts with business objectives.
  • Collaborate with various departments to achieve production goals, fostering a culture of teamwork and communication.
  • Develop a comprehensive supply plan, leveraging expertise in materials and services to ensure timely delivery and minimize disruptions.
  • Support project scheduling activities, resolving scheduling conflicts and ensuring seamless production flow.
  • Analyze bills of material and changing material demand patterns to inform strategic decisions.
  • Identify and resolve material issues, notifying affected stakeholders and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date databases of materials purchased and planned, ensuring data integrity and informed decision-making.
  • Ensure the accuracy of the material master, performing regular audits to identify areas for improvement.
  • Review sales forecasts with the management team on a regular basis, suggesting modifications to align with current or historical demand.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, recommending process enhancements and best practices.
Expectations:
  • Understand production schedules and coordinate with Production, Engineering, Purchasing, and Quality Teams to achieve production goals.
  • Supervise and train new and current Material Planners, ensuring they possess the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Maintain inventory accuracy, performing cycle counts as scheduled and updating the material master to reflect changing demands.
  • Handle field problems and after-sales issues related to materials, including backorders, shipping of loose parts, and orders for raw materials.
  • Address quality issues related to materials, ensuring compliance with company standards.
  • Take ownership of sustaining and improving current processes and systems, aligning with long-term objectives.

Measurement of Success:
  • Reports are submitted as scheduled.
  • Back-ups are properly trained.
  • Inventory accuracy standards are maintained, and cycle count schedules are followed.
  • Headwall BOMs and Phantom BOMs are updated regularly to reflect changes and improvements in the company's operation.
Education/Experience:
  • Degree in business, logistics, inventory management, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with SAP is preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in material planning, inventory management, production scheduling, or a related position.
Skills:
  • Above-average ability in Excel.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
  • Ability to create and understand reports to inform production decisions.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and good command of the English language (read, write, speak) with respect to understanding and following all verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and harmoniously within a team environment.
  • Well-organized, proactive, and positive approach in the workplace.
  • Evidence of excellent communication and interpersonal skills at all levels.
