Aviva is seeking an experienced Operational Senior Claims Leader to lead a team of technical large loss appraisers and vendor managers. The successful candidate will be responsible for creating an environment where people can do their best work, building a stronger team, and driving continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the leadership of a team of people and the improvement in their performance for the delivery of the business unit outcomes, strategy, and goals.
  • Create an environment for people to do the best work of their lives & build a stronger team by developing employee's potential in their current role and for future career aspirations.
  • Identify and collaborate as a team to improve system conditions that impact the service for our customers, the environment for our people and our financial performance.
  • Ensure the operational risks Aviva is exposed to because of the team's output are effectively managed.
  • Identify opportunities to continuously improve through the removal of waste and failure.
  • Be a role model of our Aviva Values and lead consistently with our leadership culture (People, Business & Innovation).
  • Communicate effectively with confidence, curiosity, courage and in a collaborative manner creating a clear vision of the outcomes we require and how our people will contribute to achieve those.
  • Create, re-engineer, optimize, and monitor current and proposed claims standards and best practices, risk and compliance standards, functional training curriculum content and functional IT claims project management.
Requirements
  • Strong technical construction and estimating experience in large loss quantification.
  • Post-secondary education and a CIP/FCIP designation.
  • Previous leadership experience in the insurance industry.
  • Played a key role in the performance management and career development of others.
  • Continuous improvement experience or have studied it.
  • Excellent communication skills and can engage, advocate and influence others at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to manage various projects at the same time.
  • Analytical thinker and can use that ability to gain insight from data to improve the performance of your people.
