Position Overview:

Aviva Canada is seeking a dedicated professional to join the Reserving team as a Senior Actuarial Leader. This role is pivotal in overseeing the quarterly reserve evaluations, delivering financial insights to essential stakeholders, and spearheading innovative projects aimed at enhancing reserving methodologies and reporting tools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the generation and reporting of Solvency II Technical Provisions.
  • Effectively communicate results and insights to key stakeholders within Finance and Economic Capital.
  • Oversee the claim reserve assessments for Specialty Commercial Risks, including Surety, Warranty, Professional Liability, and Latent claims. Collaborate with Claims and the CI business to deepen understanding of these portfolios and manage stakeholder communications.
  • Assist the Reserving team in quarterly analyses, including preparation and presentations to the Reserving Committee.
  • Support the team in regulatory reporting, including IFRS17 compliance and the annual Appointed Actuary's report.
  • Foster strong working relationships with partners in CI Business, Pricing, Claims, Finance, and Economic Capital.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and provide valuable business insights.

Qualifications:

  • FCAS/FCIA designation with a minimum of 5 years of experience in Property & Casualty actuarial roles, or equivalent expertise with 10+ years of experience.
  • Experience in reserving is advantageous.
  • Degree in actuarial science, mathematics, or a related discipline.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • A collaborative team player with the ability to work autonomously.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, with a talent for building effective working relationships across various departments.
  • Strong technical proficiency in MS Excel and VBA.
  • Familiarity with SAS, SQL, and Python is a plus.
