JOB OVERVIEW

As Ontario Power Generation Inc. expands its role in the energy transition, we are seeking a strategic and results-oriented professional for the position of Senior Manager, SMR Business Development.
Reporting to the Director of Strategy and Business Development, this role is pivotal in propelling the growth of our new SMR business and formulating strategies to capitalize on emerging opportunities. The Senior Manager will cultivate and sustain robust relationships with stakeholders in both Canadian and international utility, developer, and investor markets, while collaborating closely with various internal units including finance, commercial, and legal to advance projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

• Identify and develop revenue-generating opportunities related to the deployment of SMR technology in domestic and global markets;

• Establish and nurture strong partnerships with electric power generation entities;

• Build and maintain relationships with infrastructure and other investors;

• Collaborate with power plant developers to foster business opportunities;

• Assist in the negotiation of contracts and agreements;

• Gain insights into various SMR technologies and their potential as viable decarbonized energy solutions;

• Understand the landscape of generation entities and their operational assets across Canada;

• Provide strategic business and commercial advice, guidance, and support;

• Monitor and evaluate key corporate strategic developments related to nuclear energy, integrating business intelligence and analyses;

• Deliver internal briefings on strategy and opportunity assessments;

• Evaluate and advise on specific electricity policy and strategic issues impacting the organization, addressing queries from senior management.

• Manage and support a variety of strategic development and planning initiatives.

• Lead or collaborate with internal project teams and external advisors on potential business ventures.

• Develop and manage a business intelligence database to respond to management inquiries.

• Conduct high-level opportunity assessments to support senior leadership and shareholder communications.

• Prepare business case summaries and memoranda for senior management.

• Provide professional leadership, ensuring staff pursue best practices and develop their skills for organizational success and succession planning.

• Foster an engaged workforce aligned with business goals, promoting collaboration and excellence.

EDUCATION

• Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Engineering, or a related field is required;

• An MBA or Master of Finance is considered an asset.

QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for an entrepreneurial-minded, tenacious, and inquisitive individual who is passionate about business development, innovation, and new ideas. The ideal candidate will possess:

• A minimum of six years of progressive experience in business development, strategy, or investment banking, particularly within the nuclear or energy sectors;

• Strong strategic and facilitative leadership skills with at least three years of management experience, demonstrating the ability to lead and motivate a high-performing team;

• Critical thinking, analytical, research, and creative problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail;

• Excellent interpersonal skills, capable of building and maintaining productive relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including the ability to present to senior management;

• A strong sense of urgency and decision-making capabilities to manage priorities effectively;

• Proven problem-solving skills to navigate complex challenges in a dynamic environment;

• Experience in energy or infrastructure investments, power generation, or utilities is preferred.
