Role Summary
As a Registered Practical Nurse, you will play a crucial role within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team focused on providing integrated services and programs to our clients.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver nursing care across various units within Homewood Specialized Services as necessary.
- Adapt to changing patient care requirements in accordance with CNO standards, RNAO Best Practice Guidelines, specific program philosophies, and diverse patient populations.
- Manage patient assignments and adhere to care plans accordingly.
- Administer both psychiatric and non-psychiatric medications and treatments.
- Initiate necessary clinical assessments upon admission and at various intervals, e.g., Mental Status Exam.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and engage with individual team members as appropriate.
- Serve as a preceptor, mentor, coach, or resource nurse as needed.
- Participate in clinical discussions, team meetings, and patient/family conferences.
- Accept varying work assignments across Homewood Specialized Services as directed by a supervisor or delegate.
- Current registration as an RPN with the College of Nurses of Ontario, in good standing.
- Up to 6 months of experience in general nursing practice preferred.
- Experience with patients facing substance use disorders is an asset.
- Current CPR certification.
- Familiarity with the Mental Health Act (MHA).
- Understanding of documentation standards (CNO) and privacy legislation (PHIPPA).
- Knowledge of CBT/DBT and CPT is beneficial.
- Experience in group facilitation is advantageous.
- Ability to effectively manage crisis situations and work with acutely ill patients.
- Current knowledge and experience in assessing and treating psychiatric disorders, including suicide prevention and managing aggressive behavior.
- Previous training in boundaries, suicide awareness, and medication administration is beneficial.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Proficient computer skills and experience with various systems and software applications.
