About the Role:

Cowan Insurance Group is seeking a dynamic Manager of Wellness and Disability to oversee our strategic initiatives in Disability Management and Wellness services. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective execution of growth and retention strategies while leading a dedicated team of Case Managers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a remote team of Case Managers, providing mentorship on complex cases and ensuring equitable workload distribution.
  • Establish and track performance metrics to guarantee efficient case management and support for employees on their path to recovery.
  • Address escalated claims and appeals as necessary.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients to foster satisfaction and retention.
  • Develop strong relationships with key clients to identify their needs and explore new business opportunities.
  • Participate in client meetings to discuss enhancements in processes and analyze disability trends.
  • Collaborate with leadership on special projects as needed.
  • Assist in the development of new business initiatives.
  • Analyze disability data and costs to uncover opportunities for enhancing claim experiences.
  • Work with reporting analysts to deliver insightful trend reports and recommendations for best practices.
  • Support Group Benefit Consultants in clearly articulating our Disability Management and Wellness offerings.
  • Coordinate with internal audit and training teams to ensure Case Managers deliver high-quality service and receive ongoing training.
  • Promote and integrate wellness initiatives to assist clients in fostering healthier workplaces.

Qualifications:

  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French is essential.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in disability management.
  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams.
  • A degree or relevant education in a health-related field is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of employment standards and disability management regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with group insurance principles.
  • Experience in employer wellness or human resource practices is an asset.
  • Disability Management Professional designation is advantageous.
  • Ability to integrate various disability systems and processes.
  • Strong analytical skills for data interpretation and reporting.
  • Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to engage and inspire remote teams.
  • Strong presentation abilities for diverse audiences.
  • Capability to lead teams through transitions and challenges.
  • Collaborative leadership style that fosters staff development.
