Role Summary:

The Corporate Strategy Manager is a seasoned strategist who will lead and collaborate with various teams through working groups and steering committees on a range of high-priority initiatives for the organization. This position may require independent operation to ensure tasks are completed effectively. The role demands the establishment of robust partnerships with business leaders and colleagues by delivering exceptional consulting and strategic support. Over time, this position will oversee a team of skilled corporate development professionals.

This position is situated within the Finance & Corporate Services department, specifically within the Corporate Development team, reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Development. The focus and nature of the work will evolve, reflecting Fidelity Canada's strategic objectives, priorities, and challenges. The role may also engage with the Fidelity Business Consulting team for broader international initiatives. Key Responsibilities:

  • Business Consulting - Deliver high-quality consulting services and insights to senior stakeholders in the region, facilitating the achievement of Fidelity's strategic goals.
  • Strategy Development - Independently lead and contribute to efforts aimed at assessing, formulating, and executing effective strategies for various business units across Fidelity Canada.
  • Corporate Development - Assist Fidelity Canada in identifying, evaluating, and executing corporate development opportunities, including mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and partnerships.
  • Market Analysis - Derive insights from trends, disruptions, innovations, and challenges that may influence our industry, markets, clients, and business strategies, leveraging knowledge of Fidelity and our corporate ecosystem to assess potential impacts and responses.
  • Stakeholder Engagement - Design, contribute to, and lead presentations, report on progress, and facilitate discussions with working teams, Steering Committees, and Fidelity Canada's executive leadership.
  • Team Leadership - Effectively manage internal teams to achieve project objectives while empowering and developing team members within the Corporate Development group.

Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education or equivalent professional experience.
  • A Master's degree, particularly an MBA, is preferred.
  • Over 8 years of professional experience, including a minimum of 3 years in business consulting, strategy planning, or corporate development roles.
  • Experience in the Financial Services sector is preferred, with a solid understanding of the global asset and wealth management landscape, including retail and workplace investing, competitive dynamics, product offerings, client segments, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Completion of the Canadian Securities Course (CSC) is advantageous but not mandatory.

Desired Skills:

  • Extensive experience applying core strategy consulting skills; adept problem-solver.
  • Familiarity with business strategy and innovation frameworks used in advising organizations on strategy implementation.
  • Strong stakeholder management abilities: confidence and capability to engage with and appropriately challenge senior management.
  • Exceptional project management skills.
  • Ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Independent, inquisitive, and willing to take risks; able to thrive in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines and changing project conditions.
