Position Overview

This full-time role is designed for an individual who is passionate about enhancing Indigenous student recruitment initiatives at Douglas College. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting programs and services, ensuring that prospective Indigenous students are well-informed and supported throughout their journey.

Key Responsibilities
  • Program Development: Research, design, and implement recruitment events and programs tailored for Indigenous students, utilizing enrollment data to guide future strategies.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with Indigenous Student Services, the Aboriginal Stream, and other stakeholders to foster a supportive recruitment environment.
  • Community Engagement: Establish and maintain relationships with secondary schools, government agencies, and community groups to promote educational opportunities.
  • Communication: Respond to inquiries from various stakeholders, ensuring culturally safe and informed communication regarding college offerings.
  • Database Management: Maintain a comprehensive contact database of prospective students and community members to facilitate effective outreach.
  • Event Coordination: Organize and conduct school visits, career fairs, and cultural events to engage with potential students.
  • Technical Support: Set up and troubleshoot audio-visual equipment for presentations and events.
  • Supervision: Oversee the work of Student Assistants and Co-op Students, providing mentorship and performance evaluations.
  • Volunteer Management: Support the Associate Student Recruiter Advisor in overseeing the Student Ambassador program.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • A minimum of a bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
  • Two years of related experience, preferably in Indigenous education or community engagement.
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • A strong understanding of the post-secondary education system and Indigenous communities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with CRM systems.
