Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Indigenous Student Recruitment Specialist to join our team at Douglas College. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting programs and services to Indigenous students, planning and executing recruitment events, and building relationships with Indigenous communities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement recruitment strategies to attract Indigenous students to Douglas College
  • Plan and execute recruitment events, including school visits, career fairs, and cultural events
  • Build and maintain relationships with Indigenous communities, schools, and organizations
  • Collaborate with Indigenous Student Services and other departments to support Indigenous student recruitment and retention
  • Supervise student assistants and co-op students, providing training and mentorship
  • Develop and maintain a contact database of prospective students, parents, and community members
  • Organize and conduct school or community visits, career fairs, cultural events, and trade shows
  • Respond to inquiries from prospective students, parents, and community members in a culturally safe and knowledgeable manner
  • Set up and use portable computer, projector, and other audio-visual equipment for presentations
  • Involve and consult with Indigenous Student Services and Enrolment Services staff to support students through the recruitment and admissions process
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from a recognized post-secondary educational institution
  • Two years' related work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Indigenous ancestry or extensive cultural awareness and understanding
  • Excellent interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and CRM systems
  • Ability to work with Indigenous peoples and communities
  • Experience in supporting Indigenous learners and/or communities
  • General knowledge of financial services and processes
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master's degree in a related field
  • Experience in student recruitment and retention
  • Knowledge of Indigenous education and community development
  • Fluency in an Indigenous language
