Job Summary:

The Canadian Red Cross is seeking a skilled Healthcare Coordinator to join our team. As a key member of our Medical Equipment Loan Program, you will play a vital role in coordinating daily activities, ensuring the smooth operation of our services, and providing exceptional support to our clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Program Coordination: Assist the occupational therapist in coordinating daily activities within the Medical Equipment Loan Program, including the Specialized Equipment Program and the expansion of the Transition Support Pilot Project.
  • Liaison and Communication: Act as a liaison with long-term care facilities and hospitals regarding equipment loans under the HELP program, including equipment delivery and pick-up, and establish connections within these facilities.
  • Record Keeping and Statistics: Maintain records of loans and returns and compile related statistics, in accordance with program procedures and policies.
  • Administrative Support: Coordinate administrative responsibilities, including ensuring financial transactions are settled and that up-to-date and accurate information is communicated to the public in a timely manner.

Requirements:

  • Education and Experience: Completed post-secondary studies or possess a degree in a health-related field and one to two years of relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience in health, customer service, or administration.
  • Skills and Abilities: Ability to prioritize tasks and organize multiple activities simultaneously in a complex customer service-oriented environment, strong decision-making skills, coupled with good organizational abilities, proficiency in spoken and written English, strong computer and administrative skills, and ability to lift moderate to heavy loads.
  • Working Conditions: Hold a valid driver's license in Nova Scotia and have a satisfactory driving record, eligibility to work in Canada, and ability to pass the pre-screening process and undergo a thorough criminal background check.
