Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified individual to fill a tenure-track faculty position in Criminology at the University of Ottawa. The successful candidate will have expertise in Critical Surveillance and Security Studies and a strong commitment to research and teaching.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and publish refereed articles in the field of Critical Surveillance and Security Studies
  • Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in Criminology, including methods and theory
  • Supervise graduate students
  • Participate in the educational and administrative activities of the department and the Faculty of Social Sciences
Requirements
  • PhD in Criminology, Sociology, Political Science, Human Geography, Communications, or a related field with specialization in surveillance and security
  • Demonstrate excellence or potential for excellence in teaching and research
  • Ability to teach in French at the time of hiring
Preferred Qualifications
  • Interdisciplinary scholars with expertise in surveillance and policing of Indigenous and/or racially minoritized populations, counter terrorism and political policing, AI, cybersecurity, and digital surveillance
  • Commitment to a research program and a record of refereed publications
