We are seeking a highly qualified individual to join our team as a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the School of Sociological and Anthropological Studies at the University of Ottawa.
About the PositionThis is a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active and creative research program, teach four courses per academic year, and supervise the research and field projects of Master's and PhD students.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct research in social and cultural anthropology, with a focus on Africa and its diasporas
- Teach undergraduate, master's, and doctoral courses in anthropology and African studies
- Supervise the research and field projects of Master's and PhD students
- Participate in the development of the African studies program, including creating new partnerships with African institutions and establishing Honour's and graduate programs
The successful candidate must hold or obtain a doctorate before July 1, 2024. A strong orientation in the fields of food, gender, environment, or migration is an asset. Experience in developing long-term relationships with communities in which they conduct research is essential.
